Thakor (43), who was an MLA from Radhanpur in Patan district, had said that he was unhappy in the Congress. He joined the Congress shortly before the 2017 assembly elections.

Jala, close to Thakor, was an MLA from Byad in Sabarkantha. He had said that he was not feeling comfortable in the Congress.

Thakor had resigned from all posts in the Congress in April, just before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP won all 26 seats in Gujarat for the second time in the Lok Sabha elections.
